Manhattan Opens Up The Resale Market
Published by julia | Filed under Miscellaneous, Real Estate, Shout Outs, Uncategorized
When it comes to finding the perfect place to live as a celebrity, Manhattan is a mecca. Many stars choose to habitat this small space on Earth and the real estate market is thriving today just as always.
Two of the celebrities choosing to leave this hip spot are The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Winona Ryder.
Hasselbeck has recently listed and sold her 1,234 square foot condo in Manhattan. The unit sold for $1.6 million. The second floor unit on the Upper West Side of Manhattan being sold was really no surprise at all. They bought a $3.25 million unit on the Upper West Side not too long ago. It seems Manhattan is still the place for both Hasselbeck and her football star husband, Tim Hasselbeck.
Winona Ryder, on the other hand, may just be leaving New York for good. Her co-op unit was sold to her upstairs neighbors for $2.2 million. The unit located in Gramercy Park was just one of Ryder’s homes. She is most commonly found in the San Francisco or Los Angeles areas. According to recent rumors that she is living from “paycheck” to “paycheck”, maybe she will be sticking with the west coast life after leaving Gramercy Park.
Celebrities are just as active today in the real estate market as they were before the big crunch began. While many of the stars are selling there “extra” homes for a loss or even going through foreclosure proceedings, others are immune to the struggles and manage profits and gains in a market that is struggling to break even.
Carly Simon, another big name star, has listed her co-op in Manhattan to no avail. The listing is for a 1,200 square foot unit that Simon has gutted and rebuilt. Listed at $3.8 million, the unit remains on the market. Evidently, Simon does not have the real estate prowess of Ryder and Hasselbeck.
