When the Sales Are Not on the Rise

Published by julia | Filed under Miscellaneous, Real Estate, Shout Outs, Uncategorized

Down MarketMany real estate agents are seeing lower than normal sales and resales this year. The turn is an extension of the 2008 real estate season. In order to combat this down turn, many real estate agents are taking the time to brush up on their real estate skills or return to school for more education; not always in the field of real estate.

According to recent news reports, the community college enrollment across the United States is at an all time high. This is common during times of recession because people want to learn more about their current line of work or seek out new education in order to establish a foot hold in a dwindling economy. Among the people returning to school are real estate agents. It is not that real estate is not a great business to be in (I think we would all agree) but because there is more to real estate than simply selling houses.

What Courses Can Help a Real Estate Agent?

There are a variety of courses that can help the real estate agent become better at the career they love so very much. These include finance, education, psychology and accounting. When the real estate agent is knowledgeable in areas other than real estate, they are establishing themselves in the real estate community as something other than an agent.

Learning about personal finance and how decisions can change the face of a families economic life can help the agent to realize long term real estate goals. Education classes can help the real estate agent learn how to teach others the trade they love so much. Psychology is a part of every field in the world as it takes more mental understanding of personal strife in a time when money is tight. And, accounting will help the real estate agent keep track of business finances more aptly to reduce the overall money they spend in their personal and business lives.

Just because we choose real estate as our career, does not mean that field of knowledge is the only field that will help us achieve our goals. Life is about balance and new education can create that work / life; life / reality balance we need in order to succeed when others are failing. More education has never been a bad choice and today that choice can mean the difference in maintaining our success and falling short like so many others in the field of real estate.
