Moving Tips to Make Your Move Easier
Published by julia | Filed under Buyer / Seller Tips, Cities, Miscellaneous, Real Estate
There is nothing more exciting than a big move. When you have finally chosen to up and move yourself or your family, there is a huge amount of preparation to get done before the move can take place.
If the home you are currently living in is a rental - the landlord will need to be informed of your move. A quick move may require a 30 day notification which could mean paying a month’s rent when you are not living in the rental. Once the landlord is notified, you will have to find a new rental for the city or town you are moving into.
When you own a home, it is a bit harder to just move out of your current residence and into a new one. Finding a renter for the property or placing it up for sale are the only two options. Selling a home can take some time as can finding someone to rent out your current home. This could mean holding two residences until the home is taken care of.
Here are a few tips that will ease the moving process for everyone involved.
* Keep a list of names and phone numbers for all of the utilities and local bills for the current home on hand.
* Make a list of the new utilities and local companies so starting new services can be completed easily.
* If there are children involved with the move, check the ratings for the local school systems and try to find a new home within a good district.
* Make a list of emergency items like medications, extra sets of clothes and toilet paper that must travel with you during the move.
* Choose a full service mover, if possible, to save time packing the home. Many full service moving companies will come into the home and pack on the day of the move.
* Rent a dumpster and purge old things. A dumpster can be a great choice to get rid of those old things you have sitting around. There is never a better time to do a bit of spring cleaning than when you have to pack EVERYTHING into boxes.
Moving is an exciting time, but the memories will be much more enjoyable if you are prepared well in advance of moving day. For more tips, try asking a friend who has moved recently for any pointers on how to make the move, smooth.
