Different Values in Real Estate
Published by julia | Filed under Buyer / Seller Tips, Real Estate, Shout Outs
The number of housed people in a country is often used as an indicator showing the wealth of the country and the prosperity of the people living there. It can be very expensive to own a home and land. The mortgages being paid on the home are also very important for the banking system, since money can be made off the interest paid and that money can be used to reinvest in other people. The idea is that the more people living in homes, the wealthier the people of that country must be. This unfortunately is not always the case. Often times the condition of the homes is neglected when viewing the number of people living in homes.
While there can be a large number of people who are housed in a third world country, the type of dwelling and the condition of the home and surrounding area is hardly what most would considered livable. Many of the 3rd world homes are only slightly better than shacks made of scrap wood. Some are simply aluminum siding placed or bolted against each other to form a single community room. Dirt is often the flooring of choice for these homes, since nothing else can be easily attained or afforded. It is also not uncommon to see extended family living together, not always in harmony.
The surrounding areas by these makeshift homes are often in poor condition. This condition stems from the poverty level of those living in the area. Most of those living in these conditions have barely enough money for food and water, and what food and water they get may not be in the best of condition. This leaves very little time for beautification projects or general cleaning. While this type of real estate in 3rd world countries is very cheap, there is more expensive property that can be had in these countries. These properties are much like our properties in that they have access to electricity and indoor plumbing. These properties are often reserved for those who have high paying jobs and those who move into the location from other countries so that their dollar can go further.
Since most of the people in these 3rd world countries have a home, they often do not appear to be as impoverished as they truly are. We are used to hearing about people who are homeless, not those who have homes but are in desperate need of our assistance.
