In my previous article, I was writing about buyers who prefer to have their houses conducive not only for the family member but for their pets as well. Home features that are to be considered before deciding to buy, here are a few more tips you might want to consider:

1) Check Street Traffic
Sometimes, even the most well mannered dogs run off when the main door is opened. Cats are intrusive and a curious cat can always find a way to go through an open screen door just to get outside. In a new surrounding, your pets can rush into the street. To avoid any accident, it is best to pass on purchasing a home that is near busy streets.

2) Are There Any Previous Pets in the House?
If the owner or seller is selling a property where pets live, make sure to check for any pet damage, even under rugs. Go to the back doors for scratches or marks. Inquire about pet accidents and about fleas in the house.

Pet whiff are almost impossible to eliminate from a property but might not be obvious to you since you are used to pet odors. Try to tag along a friend who does not own a pet to act as an official sniffer. Cats and dogs, mark territory and if you own pets such as that you do not want the process of improper elimination to repeat itself.

3) Investigate if the Neighborhood is Pet Friendly
Find time to drive around the area to watch and see for yourself if you can spot neighbors walking their dogs or notice huggable cats sleeping in sunny windows. Look for community placed receptacles for waste deposits. Think whether you would prefer an where dogs are on leases and home owners carry plastic bags or a neighborhood where dogs run free while the pet owner sit around drinking beer.

4) Locate Pet Clinics
When you are thinking of purchasing a home in a new neighborhood, ask your real estate agent and the neighborhood for referrals to pet vendors. For example: Where can you buy Pet Food, Veterinary clinics, Day care center for doggies, Pet salon and contacts on pet sitter.

5) Look for Local Dog Park
A sure way to meet your neighborhood and create new friends is at the local dog park. Try to ask these few questions about the park:

a. Will you be keeping your dog on a leash all the time?
b. Are dogs encouraged to play with other dogs and socialize?
c. Who maintains the cleanliness of the park?
d. Does the park has station where you can pick up your dog after?
e. Is the park closed or restricted during certain hours of the day?
f. Can you hear dogs bark at the park from your new house?

6) Is the Lawn Area Fenced?
If the yard area does not have a fence and you would like to give your pet a safe area to play, ask how much is the estimate cost to construct your own. If the property has an existing fence, be sure that is gated, fences should be high enough so your pets cannot jump over it. Inspect for any loose fence boards that may need to be repaired or replaced.

In addition, if you intend to construct a swimming pool for your home, consider getting a cover or install a security gate around it.
