After learning to choose the color that would enhance your mood, experimenting in several colors, putting on some color effects and knowing the final finish to put it into the wall, We continue on to the remaining five hints and tricks for your painting works and help you do the trick, easier and faster.

A.    Get Ready to paint

Being prepared is one of the most crucial tips in painting and it is also the solution in achieving a professional looking paint job.

1.     Transfer all furniture, fixtures, hardware or any items inside the room that may be a hindrance during the painting job. Making the room easier to move around and lessens the chances of damaging the furniture or fixtures inside.

2.     You need to remove any dirt dusts and grease on the wall, wiping down the area with a solution of water and some of dish soap will have it squeaky clean.

3.     Sand down surfaces that will be painted and putting some plaster filler on any cracks. Clean off the dust from the sanding with a damp cloth.

4.     Create a check list for all the painting materials that you need such as the rollers, brushes and paint trays. Stopping your work in the middle of a painting just to drive to the hardware store and buy what is lacking is a pretty trying and obviously stops you from finishing the work on time.

B.    Mark the Areas to be Painted

You may think that this is a tedious thing to do, it is but it is worth it. Using a painter’s tape to mark off the trim, windows, doors, ceiling and all other areas needed to be painted. Guarantees you to achieve a nice straight line and avoid going overboard onto another area that you do not want painted.

C.    Painting from Up Down

Remember to always begin painting from the highest area to the lowest. Staring from the ceiling or top of the walls and then slowly work your way down. Doing it this way can ease you in any drips and will not spoil a freshly painted wall.

D.    Thin Coats versus Thick

You thought by doing a lot of coating can make the wall look much better? Think again. This is one of the mistakes people do when they paint; they put too much color on to the brush. Using a small amount on to the brush and use long even strokes is a much effective and efficient way of painting. Putting on a lot of paint in thinking it will save you time by not doing another stroke is not correct because in the end it will definitely look bad. Few thin coats will do a great job of painting the walls than one thick coat, remember that.

E.    Do the Trim Last

Some may argue about doing the trim last but usually the trim can pick some of the spray that comes off of the rollers or brush. So it is still best to color the trim very last because it can be done with a brush and extra paint won’t get on to the walls.
