You may want to make the most of the limited space by using these designing ideas on a small room. When you are working on a small room experiment with using bookshelf that goes all the way to the ceiling and make sure that item colors matches together to create a pulled-together look.

Keep in mind that the top rule when you are decorating small areas is to put items that you really love. In a small space, items that do not really lift your moods must not be placed in there. Check out these tips for designing your own little space.

Useful Furniture Works

When you are considering items to buy make sure that it has several purpose. Think of a storage space for instance, like you can use it as a table or an extra seating or simple an area where you could store several things like books, blankets, remotes, etc. Always remember to pick items that has more than two uses.

Keep Your Room Clutter Free

Refrain from over-decorating your small area. Though, putting accessories does add charm and personal touch but make sure that you do not over do it. If you are thinking of using a lamp and decorative accessory on table, you can use sculptural lamp that can serve both purposes. Or try putting small items in designed boxes that can be show off on mantels, shelves or tables. Keep in mind that every item should have several purposes.

Experiment on Colors

Try to experiment on dark colors or big patterns. A lot of people instantly think they should use light colors and avoid loud patterns when designing small areas and if that is your manner of designing and would want the space to look larger go for it. Nonetheless, being in a small space is not that bad at all and making it appear bigger is not always the case. Dark shades and bold patters will not make your space look bigger but they can create an exciting and dramatic space to live in.

Designing Straight Up

Create shelves all the way to the ceiling. Why would you think only of the floor space but forgets that there is space above you too.  When you take window treatments all the way to the ceiling only if that applies to your area, this creates an elongated wall and makes it look taller.

Maximize Your Wall Space

A perfect way to save up space is in the entry way. Place a shelf or a bracket near the door where you could hang your keys, mails, etc. Also, as an alternative, when you use bedside tables install a shelf where the table top would be. You can still make use of the surface for a lamp or books.

Place the Storage Where It Can’t Be Seen

When designing a small room keep unnecessary storage spaces with cloth or fabric. If you have an unattractive filing cabinets or under the table boxes that was never arranged, try to look for a piece of fabric and place it on top but never let it hang loose; as this may contribute to a messy surroundings. When you have a small space items should be a little more tailored.
