Create new storage areas in your small kitchen.

It’s easy to become frustrated when you come home with a new purchase and find that there isn’t any where to store it in your small kitchen. In fact, living with a small kitchen is far from ideal. This is especially true if you love to cook. Cooks need storage space and thankfully it’s easy to create new areas. You just need to follow a few easy steps.
Reevaluate your organizational skills. When you have a small kitchen, you need to be a master of organization. Simply throwing items into your cabinets won’t do. Instead, you need to make sure that you place items into your cabinets as if you’re putting together a puzzle. Each piece should fit against other items so that there isn’t any empty space. By following this one step, you will have created more storage space in your cramped cabinets.
Choose items that work in your small space. In order to make items fit into your cabinets tightly, you need to find items that stack together to take up very little space. This is especially true with plastic containers. Many sets don’t stack together and take up too much cabinet space. Instead, you want to find a set where the pieces nest inside of each other. This is also true for bake ware and cookware.
Look up. Storage space can easily be found by just looking up. If you look up and see empty walls, it’s time to invest in shelving and pot racks. Shelves are a wonderful place for cookbooks and dishes. Pot racks are also essential because they clear up storage space in your cabinets.
Rethink your furniture. Does your microwave cart offer storage? What about the chairs at your kitchen table? If not, it’s time to go shopping. A small kitchen needs furniture that offers storage space. A microwave hutch offers both storage on the top and bottom. This is a great place to store small appliances and cookbooks. A dining set that features a corner unit with built in storage is the perfect solution for table linens and various centerpieces.
Donate unused items. Every kitchen has unused items. These may be gifts that you never found a use for or items that you stopped using several years ago. Regardless of the reason why they aren’t being used, these items are eating up storage space in your small kitchen. Take time to go through your cabinets and donate items that are no longer being used.
